Finding it all again

4 steps · 3 min

Capturing something is quick. Finding it again is not always — and a process nobody can find might as well never have been written down. That is why search sits in two places you already have in front of you every day.

Two things are worth knowing. First, a keyword is the right format, not a whole sentence. Second, search does not take you literally: “quote” also brings up processes whose titles never mention the word — and it looks beyond processes, into locations, roles, requirements and resources at the same time. That is exactly what the linking from lesson 2 pays off for: the more that hangs together, the more a single word will find.

  1. Search on the dashboardThe start page asks what you are looking for. Typing is enough — after a moment the hits are there, grouped by area.
  2. From anywhereThe same field sits at the top of the sidebar. So you never have to go anywhere to search — it works from the middle of your work.
  3. And arriveOne click on a hit and the process is open. The result list is not a stopover, it is the shortest way there.
  4. Only narrowing the listThe field above the table is something else again: it filters just the list you are standing in. Handy once you already know where you are.
